Man found guilty after killing friend over bread

Kimberley - A 22-year-old man, Mlungisi Memane, was found guilty on charges of murder and attempted murder following an incident during which he fatally stabbed his friend, Gopolang Mmokwa, and also injured another friend, Lebogang Hopton, following an argument over bread.

The incident occurred on January 29 in Galeshewe after the three friends were drinking under a tree and an argument broke out between Memane and Hopton.

According to testimony, Hopton and Mmokwa decided to go to Mmokwa’ house and told Memane to stay at the tree under which they had been drinking earlier.

Memane, however, refused to remain behind and followed the them to the house.

An altercation broke out in the kitchen between Memane and Mmokwa when the latter said that there was not enough bread for the both of them.

I have a cousin that stabbed his younger brother after coming home from a club one night. Obviously they were drinking and they all wanted to eat (twin brothers and the older one). The older one then stabbed one of the twins with a butter knife. He died of infection a few days later. Stabby brother got off on a technicality and is not in jail.
 
^ Seen to colored brothers who lived next door to me in Toti. Got along like peas and carrots when sober. 3 quarts later and they were like Tyson and Holyfield. Some guys just should not drink. Can't handle their liquor.
 
I never understood how alcohol can make you violent person. Act irrational yes but to go from being a timid person to someone that can stab somebody always leaves boggled.
 
I lived in Paraguay, South America four 4 years in total. Three years at first from 1996 - 1999 and then on a one-off year from 2004-2005.

Some bloke shot a guy for "tres mil, [three thousand]". That means R3 in their money (R6 at the time in our terms). Another guy literally plowed over his little daughter. A South African was shot, and then driven over by his own Valmet tractor, and framed as a suicide since he let go of the tractor's clutch apparently and it drove all over him. Eyes popped out and tractor spores all over his corpse.

People are crazy is my only conclusion.
