Hi guys,

I've tried searching for a solution to this problem on the forums but let's say my keyword skills as well as general searching skills are a bit rusty. If you can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I have a Dg834u Netgear wireless router from Telkom. I've got the whole network setup. My question is this: How do I 'shape' internet traffic on the network PCs? I enjoy playing the odd game online but when my local pings shoot up to 600ms in Call of Duty it gets a bit frustrating. Blame it on the sister for using Facebook :P.

Many thanks!

I think what you are looking for is QoS.
Some of my Netgear routers have had it in the past.
Here is a NetGear KB article about it : http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/972
I am not sure if your router has it. You might need to build a firewall inbetween that can do QoS.

AFAIK, all routers have QOS, either in Firewall settings or routing.

Call of Duty uses Ports 28950, 28960, 28970, 28980, or 28990, amongst others, but these are the standard ones.

If you make these ports priority you shouldn't have a problem.

Or go and install NetLimiter on her PC and enable remote administration so that you can limit her PC's throughput before you play your game :)
