Former president Nelson Mandela's condition was still critical but steadily improving, the presidency said on Friday.

Spokesman Mac Maharaj did not provide an update on Mandela's health but said nothing had changed from the last statement the presidency released.

On August 11, Maharaj said: "The medical team also reiterated that although his health was improving steadily, Madiba still remained in a critical condition."

Mandela was spending his 77th day at the Medi-Clinic Heart hospital in Pretoria.

The anti-apartheid icon was admitted on June 8 for a recurring lung infection.

If Mandela were dead someone working at the hospital would have spilled the beans by now.

Until I see real proof, I still think he is dead

Couldn't care either way.

I dont know about dead dead ... but I think the chances are he is brain dead (unless that is what you mean meneer)

A friend of a friend has a source that told us he already was aspirated @ the house and unconcious for a while .... this was before the ambulance broke down etc etc.

But ja ... not sure about how truthful this person is ... but that is what I was told. Be that as it may ... I dont think the truth is being told regarding this matter.
