Johannesburg - Nelson Mandela's cousin, Tembu King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo - the head of the Tembu Royal House - said this week the ANC had lost its way and had pushed corrupt leaders to the top. He also said he plans to join the DA.

In an interview with the Sunday Times at the Bumbane Great Place near Mthatha, the Tebu king said he had informed DA leaders Helen Zille and Athol Trollip that he intends to join their party.

Dalindyebo said his decision would be communicated to the chiefs that fall under him at a meeting scheduled for next week.

Dalindyebo said he also plans to campaign for the DA in next year's elections but added that he was not sure how his people would react to the news.

Dalindyebo is the head of the Tembu Royal House, under whose jurisdiction the Mandela family falls.

I think Mandela himself would join the DA if he still had his marbles. The poor example shown by the ANC has filtered all the way down to the likes of police officers and small businesses tenderpreneurs breaking the law to make a quick buck.

Well they'd be in the minority by definition, so while there would be tension, sure... it would be manageable. Worth it if it meant they could no longer stuff up this country.

I'm not one for doom and gloom but I cannot help but agree. Currently the ANC supporters are already very militant and that while they are in power. How will things be should they lose power and as a result have to abide by the rulings of a 'white racist' DA government?

We will have the civil unrest of the 80's all over again.

I don't know specific numbers but as an example, lets say 70% of the people know how to behave. The 30% willing to misbehave in all likelihood are the "masses" we refer to and are members of the ANC. They are also least likely too be swayed (call it a lack of education...if we don't get our way we protest and make this country ungovernable).

So lets say 5% start a protest slash throw cars with rocks and burn down shops tantrum. Thats 2.5 million people.

Now the numbers could be off but the point is the the majority which don't resort to caveman tactics wont try and stop them. We would leave it to the police and military....if they are not protesting.

More and more people are seeing the ANC for what it is or for what it has become and over time more will leave their flanks to join the opposition and or other parties.

Go read this 'Open letter to South Africa from the foreign media". Its just the die-hards that are clinging to the ANC, the rest are starting to see the light.

Keep your car in the garage, use public transport during that "crucial" period to go to work and don't worry too much about the value of the Rand...it's been fcsked for some time now.

Nah. I don't think there will be mass genocide but I'm pretty sure there will be protests and maybe even riots should the DA win the general election.
