on the local ftp servers, there tons of version--asia, int, 18n, etc; I want the GNOME CD iso, can someone please show me to the right place.

My guess would be http://ftp.sun.ac.za/ftp/iso-images...inux-one-2008-spring-GNOME-int-cdrom-i586.iso
But check out the mandriva site install FTP, they should give you an idea one what is what.

thanks yo'll. just checked the mandriva wiki: http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/2008.1#One, it looks like any one will work fine; I will stick with Asian for now.
So which flava would you recommend: KDE4 or GNOME? I am GNOME person, but want to try KDE4 heard lots about it? Does Mandriva give KDE4 a good treat (like Suse does), or is it still in its infancy (like Kubuntu). I have tested OpenSUSE KDE4 and Kubuntu KDE4 and I must say, SUSE just blows kubuntu out of this world.
oh BTW, I have heard that Mandriva has excellent support for my HTC s710 with Windows Mobile 6, so I want to try it.

Personally, I'm not prepared to go anywhere near KDE4 just yet. I tried it with Kubuntu 7.10 and it just felt unfinished and nowhere near as polished as KDE3 (obviously). So, personally, I am gonna stick with KDE3 until KDE4 has a significant update.
