Mango flight booking warning

As like any other SOE... well done ANC... yet another milestone to be proud of!

Nobody could have anticipated this?!

Well, in all fairness, the rumors were doing the rounds since about January. But, even last year January there were talk about the airline finding itself in a position where it may fail soon.

Flight booked on Mango from CPT to JNB
- do I:

1) arrive at the airport and see if we can board

2) claim my money back from Mango (how long do mybroadbanders think a refund is going to take) ?

3) book an alternative flight on Lift out of own pocket

People should have been worried about booking on this airline for a while already. I dont feel much sympathy for the passengers to be honest.

...raising questions about how much longer it can stay in the air...
all tickles me when I see this sort of statement about airlines
they'll only stay in the air as long as they have fuel in their tanks

You may not get a refund at all. As far as I know they are practically bankrupt. There will now be years of procedures such as Business Rescue, etc. during which you cannot claim in any event. If liquidation is the end-result, best you can do is to submit a claim against a bankrupt business.

AFAIK if you paid for the ticket by credit card you can ask the bank to reverse the transaction or raise a dispute due to them failing to provide the paid for service, within some grace period. I know many people got their money for flights cancelled due to Covid like that.
