JOHANNESBURG - ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says if a member has been found guilty of a crime by the public protector it does not mean they are unfit to stand to become a Member of Parliament (MP).

The ANC's NEC is meeting at the Saint George Hotel today ahead of the list conference on Monday, where candidates for Parliament and provincial legislatures will be discussed.

Mantashe made it clear that the ANC has always been tough on corruption but has vowed to be even harder.

“It is up to you, out of your conviction and your consciousness to say yes I must step aside until my case is over. Few of our people do that.”

But Mantashe says nothing forbids a member not to serve the ANC in Parliament if he or she has not been found guilty of a crime in court.

All I can say is follow thy leader.:mad::mad:

“Let’s take the public protector’s report, is that disqualifiable from going to Parliament? No. It has no such power.”

The NEC is expected to wrap up its lekgotla today before they meet to discuss their candidate list on Monday.

Just shocking!! How does ANC expect to be clean if they won't remove corrupt MP's??
