Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the Telkom Marconi 4port wireless router/modem. I had been running it with a fly lead to one machine without any problems. I then wifi'd a laptop to the router using WPA type security. The laptop has serious issues browsing 90% of any sites I try, MSN Messenger wont sign in and complains about Key Ports not being allowed.

For the life of me I cannot see why the Wifi connection should be different to the wired connection in terms of secured ports and firewall policies. I also cannot figure the firewall settings to get it to work?

Anyone had this before and can assist?

Thanks

Is it me, or do those Marconi routers have the most shoddy configuration interface known to man?!?

I still cannot figure this out!

marconi wifi modem

Make sure you have manually assigned DNS on your wireless tcp/ip settings.
for most SAIX resellers its 196.25.255.34 and 196.25.255.3

For marconi wifi wireless settings:

SSID : you change it anything isntead of Marconi for ur Security reasons
Channel : 6
Enable encryption
Key Length: 128 Bit (more secured)
KEY 0 : ie. 26 Hexidecimal characters (Meaning you use a combination of numbers between 0 and 9 and letters between A and F)

submitt...>save configuration...>save and reboot

Go to your control panell....>network connections...>wright click on your wireless icon and select view available connections (it will search and it will give you your SSID name), you select it (ssid) and click on connect it will ask you for your key ....> the easy way to avoid errors just copy key 0 and paste it. If you time out when connected just manually assign your IPs and DNS's for browsing issues!

Hope this will assist!
