Gentlemen, I pose a question to you all.

We like many have come to realise that Telkom and their joint partnership with Marconi has resulted in terrible service regarding Routers and configuration.

If not Marconi then has anyone got a better alternative to use????

Cisco etc....

Help.

Billion
NetGear

In fact most anything is better than the default Telkom Marconi routers

In the End..

Well in the end we knew it would come down to this....

But nevertheless we are giving it 1 last bash.

Getting some assistance from the proper guys about Router configuration.

In the end at least we'll learn something new!!!

Let you all in on how it goes.....

If interested....

regarding marconi, its like telkom went out of their way to provide the ****test router(I prefer to call it a piece of beetroot) to us.

I use nothing but netgear (and ive tried a few) and i have had not one stitch of problems. I even have my netgear router flashed with the beta firmware that supports vpn end to end and i dont have a stitch of problems. I am always in contact with my work network as well as the internet :)

I've had 3 Netgears... first one was a 834v1 (the really big ones) which although sold is still working to this day. Replaced it with a v2 which rebooted at least once every five minutes, tried every firmware available until I got fed up and unplugged it during an upgrade. Supplier swapped it out with an identical unit which worked for about two weeks, then lightning took it out (karma I guess). I currently use it as a paperweight.

Got myself a D-Link as it was the 23'rd of December and it was the only one I could find. Worked fine from day one and was a couple of hundred bucks cheaper.

My point is that no brand is perfect, get the cheapest one available that has the features you need.
