Should I disable the firewall in the router?

I nmaped the router for the ports I want forwarded but nmap says they are not open? btw the daemons on running fine.

I want to run a few things, httpd, ircd etc

I have disabled the firewall on mine - however have software firewall on my servers and works well for me.

This is my suggestion - I am sure there are other opinions out there!

Can you please give me a step by step guide on how *you* configuing it.

I am not Windows, thats not the problem with the so calles "Personal Firewalls" I need him to tell me how to do port forwarding with My Marconi router.

Sorry for getting back late on this but I have been travelling, and have just seen this post.

These are the rules I have under virtual server:

ID Public Port - Start Public Port - End Private Port Port Type Host IP Address
1 25 25 25 TCP 192.168.10.254
2 110 110 110 TCP 192.168.10.254
3 3002 3002 3002 TCP 192.168.10.254
4 3000 3000 3000 TCP 192.168.10.254
5 1000 1000 1000 TCP 192.168.10.254
6 3389 3389 3389 TCP 192.168.10.254

I have the firewall off.

The modem connects my PPPoE connection.

Hope this helps.

/doc.
