Marconi Vs the D-link and Netgear

I mean this is a joke right who would u think is better , amazingly enought the markoni modem did it , i have purchesed the netgear DM602 modem and now have th D-link 500G which i might add is full of options ..... they both constently dissconect me as soon as i connect the marconi modem , it works perfect stable like a rock , but the D-link one and Netgear one drop connections every 5 or so muints ..... PLease can someone explain to me is it a hardware or software , problem , in the routers or has markoni actualy created something better then some of the best Brands in the world , how cant this be ?
 
I would really suggest people check this forum before they invest in any form of modem, if they do they would see that the DM602 has been many times listed as having problems on the Telkom network while the DG814 and 824M's work like a dream.
 
but i still cant understand how can the marconi modem be so much more foult tollernt then this othere modems , i just spoke to one of the D-link guys and he said that he had a few phone calls about that already and they looking into it .... but no one knows how long this will take probbly months before i get an answer *sigh*
 
I would hazard a guess saying it has to do with line attenuation, the setup Telkom has on their side, etc. that cause some of the more "unstable" modems (on Telkom's network anyway) to constantly disconnect.

100% correct - I have continued testing a D-Link 504G and
cannot maintain a link.
 
thanks guys but u know i have spoken to d-link and they dont know , what is happeing , and they said they had quite a few similer cases , and they told me telkom is not discloseing info , of what they did to the marconi modems , and why they are so tolrible to the SA lines , so i afcouse said why dont u guys just open one up and see what makes they modems so great . his reaply was a lought and said well maybe we should do that , who is gona stop us
 
I find it odd that people have hassles with the Netgear DM602.
I have been using it for about two months and have only been disconnected about 4/5 times. This is however with a firmware upgrade and setting the modem into router mode.
 
Please go to www.dlink.co.za and download the patch for the DSL-504G if you are still using one. The problem has been solved on the firmware, it connects now on the 2Mb as well as the 6Mb sync lines.

Just to drop in here, and say that it's really nice having contact with hardware manufacturers like this; it sure beats the usual line you get, which basically amounts to "sorry, we can't give you any useful information about any of our products."
