So, I have an app almost ready to put on the marketplace. But now I need to get an actual developer account. Has anyone found a proper work around for this, that will also allow me to get payed for the apps that I sell?

Thanks - im rather desperate :-/

Yes, there is a way, but it's not too great. Rather pricey and you'll need to be able to receive Paypal (only FNB does this AFAIK?).

Still don't understand why MS are not allowing more countries into the dev / app universe. Very few legal issues (as with music and video).

Forgot to mention, that I dont want to use YallaApps :P.
It's a freaking rip-off, plus is not published as you.
Both of those are a deal breaker.

Yep, I fully agree with you.
It's just such a mission to do, only possible if you have a friend in a developer country that will regsiter on your behalf and use your name as the publisher name.
That means that they have to submit tax returns and all that stuff, not the greatest...

Actually biggest issue is our games board. In order to sell games into SA market the distributor will have to submit it for such a rating and carry the cost. Seeing that Microsoft is here seen as the distributor they will have to submit the games for rating and carry the cost of the process. Apple's way around this was to separate the games from the rest of the market, there is a bypass on that process as well as people can add games as entertainment instead of games making it available for markets like South Africa.

Wow, that's really silly. So I guess this is similar to the Steam illegality issue?
Seriously South Africa, wake up! :/

Thanks for the info, makes a lot of sense. Good thing I've got my US live account, at least I can get free games.

Well similar in the fact that "some" games on Steam are indeed illegal so to speak.
Note that most of the stock on the Steam "shelves" are actually already rated in the form of there retail boxes. This does not happen with mobile games.

It must also be noted that the law we now follow was created back when South Africa was more conservative and we rated certain things like porn more strictly than say PEGI, and has not changed since. South Africa is not the only country that has this law in place in fact all countries does. The difference is just that places like France or say Germany or even Australia have found a way to incorporate there laws with the new markets. Example they may have used a blanket rating under Apple market as Apple already police there iOS games with an iron fist.

We have a long road in front of us in the fact that we 1st have to teach our law makers what the new technology is and then how it can benefit us before we can get them to change the laws. Also good luck with that while they are to busy killing all the other fires all round them.

Great, so basically, once again, South Africa is getting skrewed because of our own problems :(
