Received from Coronation regarding different markets' performance for Jan-March 2020. Makes for depressing reading

Hope you bought shares when the JSE dropped to 38116 points

I actually think its going to visit those levels again once covid has been dealt with and economic agents begin to assess the damage of the burst bubble.
 
I always question especially the Property indexes and whether that is purely a share price or if it includes the dividends that it is geared for.

I suspect the former, which makes it a useless point.

Good point...but dividend distribution can be expected to drop markedly in the coming months too

Yeah it’s just always with the Property indexes people look at the share prices and quickly comment that “this is a bad performer, why would anyone invest in it” while completely ignoring its purpose which is NOT to increase the share price but to pay dividends.

Your profit from the share will likely still be very positive even if lower somewhat, compared to the entire rest of the market.
