I suppose living out of SA you're not exposed so much. But I reckon his antics have made him one of the most famous people in the country and a lot of questions are being asked about why he is/was escaping justice.

To quote that Daily Maverick article:

According to a source, Jooste fatally shot himself when police walked into his Hermanus home to arrest him. It was not immediately clear where Jooste shot himself, or to whom the weapon belonged.

An eyewitness said the incident happened outside his home. Emergency personnel had been called to the scene, attached drips with fluid and carried him on a stretcher to an ambulance, the witness said.

Eh, I will still rather wait on the police to make their statement? It sounds like Jooste made a Hollywood exit. When did he obtain the weapon, did he walk out with it, did he take a policemen's weapon, was he in the house when the police arrived and entered?

I am sure that he knew that he was about to be arrested, he most likely had a lawyer present or on call. I doubt the police pitched up without notice given the case.
