Getting married in two months time and need to get the contract in order before then.

Can you recall how much you paid?

Any good references in Pretoria East area?

Thanks

There are basically 3 options: In commmunity, out of community and out of community with accrual.

The most popular should be OOC with accrual because you get to keep everthing you had before the marriage but you split everything you have after marriage.

Do a Google search for ante-nuptial contracts. You can even do them online these days - R700-R800! A visit to the attorney would probably cost a bit more, but let that guide you when evaluating his/her fee.

I'm assuming you're get married out-of-community with accrual - that's pretty much the standard these days.

Yip. Out of community with accrual.

We would really prefer to do a contract face-to-face with someone. So the online thing will be a last resort.

Vivienne Korzia - based in Jhb , Balfour Park.

She done mine and a few other friends that I referred to her. So should you fail to locate one in Pretoria East. You can make use of her services four years ago, I think we paid R1500.00

Well worth the service she provided.

Hence why I said to use it as a yardstick for gauging the face-to-face option's price, whatever they quote you. It's not a complicated document, read up about it and phone 2 or 3 attorneys to get a price if you don't get any references.

Good luck!

I got married in 2006 and paid about R1150 for the contract, would assume about R 1500 at current rate. I would strongly suggest that you get a attorney as to have the contract lodged with the court is a bit of a shlep.

We paid nothing for ours. Some law firms will do both your prenuptial and will in one. They do not charge you now but at death they take a small cut to administer your estate. Our lawyer set ours up that only at the death of the last living spouse will the firm take their commission (1% of the estate).

So if your estate is worth 1,000,000 you'll be paying them 10,000 to have written your will and anti-nuptual contract?

IIRC we paid R1000 but that was a few years back.

I got married in community. Divorce is to easy these days. I honestly dont know why most people get married at all.

Too easy? I found it to be a long, drawn out, incredibly expensive affair . . . and worth every second and every penny . . . but there was nothing easy about it.

Marriages sometimes fail and the type of marriage contract entered into at the beginning rarely makes a difference.

Sounds like you chose badly. Unlucky. General rule of thumb, dont date bipolar woman and dont get married just for sex :D

I would prefer not to part with money to a bank or law firm; therefore better to make someone you know (friend/relative/etc) the executor of your estate.

Are you planning to get divorced at some-point in your life? Great way to start a marriage hey.

Most people do not plan on getting robbed or burgled or get involved in an accident, but they take out insurance in any case. It is the same kind of thing.

Then why lots of couples like to say "Till death do us apart". If I'm going to say that on my wedding day, then be assured, I'm going to keep my promise
