Has anyone of you kind people ever owned a pair of these ? As far as I know they are not available in SA, and it does not seem like they ship to SA either.

The technology behind the trainers seem quite interesting - in essence, it works like this -

1. The shoes distribute pressure equally across and along the entire foot.

2. The body reacts to the natural instability with intuitive compensatory movements, providing neglected muscles with effective exercise.

I wouldn't really call it technology seeing as it doesn't contain any real technology. Thats my pet peeve with these TV adverts as well. "New pampers, butt cleaning technology"

Err... innovation? invention? *looks for the TECH in the NOLOGY they apparently have*

And that is good because? Feet have evolved so that only a portion takes the pressure....disturbing that by redistributing pressure sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Barefoot FTW!

People ask me "what about the glass and **** on the tar" and I'm like "so? I don't walk there, and if I cut myself, next time I won't walk there... you live you learn"

Well, it seems what they are saying is that, depending on how you are built (each individual obviously being different physically), when you walk normally, you put pressure only on certain parts of your body, meaning that only certain parts will be 'excercised' when you walk/run.

Since these shoes spread the pressure evenly, your body naturally compensates and in that way, the parts that are not normally exercised get attention.

Hope my explanation is understandable.

Sound like Marketing talk to me....esp the exercising part.

However, most name brand running shoes introduced extra support on the inside of the foot because of the general tendency (when walking with shoes) to put excessive pressure on the outside of the foot. Or at least thats the angle the last shoe salesman pitched me.

It doesn't necessarily have to involve electronic gadgetry to be considered a technology. Any field based on scientific calculation and reasoning can be considered technical.

True, some marketing campaigns do take it a tad too far.

Like my adventure with the Podiatrist last week, my custom made orthotic sole inserts will do exactly the same thing.-at a third of the price made from high tech silicone.

Blu - go back to gym and stop being lazy! And post a pic of your legs please so we can gauge the progress you are making - we like to help where we can...

Oh dear, seems you are just asking for people to post funny remarks again :)

I will definitely not stop going to the gym, though I would really like these shoes because they seem to be quite innovative.

So buy my new fat burning technology air. I've studied it and based on my scientific calculations, if you breathe, you will lose fat. SO the heavier you breathe the more fat is burnt.

R9.99 for the first month! Buy now while stocks last. The new air breathing technology. Brilliant init.

Just thought I'd take the mickey. Not everything that has been invented could be considered scientific or technology I'm afraid. Some things were just discovered (by science) to be fact or fiction.

Breathing air DOES help in burning fat. That has been scientifically proven. To then turn around and market it as technology? Aikona hayewena

Even in language studies at university level are the mechanics of language referred to as "technical".

The term technology can be interpreted very widely ... but not so wide as to reach to the absurd. ^^

Thats true, but technical != technology

;)

Also, don't you love it when they advertise a product as new & improved?

What is it exactly? New or Improved? Can't be both because improved means the product existed before which doesn't really make it new now does it?

Or like Jerry Seinfeld says ... you get pharmaceuticals that are quick-acting or long-lasting. When would you want to feel better? Now or later?

Thank you doctor but us mere humans sometimes walk in a not so right way :p

We then get all kinds of injuries or sore feet, these shoes might work if it actually does what it says (wich I doubt :p)

Ps go look at there "how it works". It looks okish but they are telling me they are making it harder to walk!!! :D

Didn't Nike bring out something similar a few years back?
IIRC they were called "Nike free's" or something similar. They were available from "The Sweat Shop" either Dunkeld or Fourways Crossing.
