ECONOMIST Eddie Cross has claimed that the tightening economic situation in Zimbabwe has triggered a mass exodus of Zimbabweans into South Africa.

In an article titled The deepening crisis in Zimbabwe, Cross has estimated that up to 5 000 people a day are now crossing the country’s southern border into South Africa, a number he said could translate to more than 40 000 a week or two million people by the end of this year.

“Some will return but the majority will stay and seek new lives. Can South Africa take such an additional burden at this time? I think not,” said Cross.

Cross, who is also the Movement for Democratic Change Member of Parliament for Bulawayo South, has blamed the mass exodus into South Africa, from where only months ago Zimbabwean were fleeing from xenophobia attacks, on Zimbabwe’s worsening economic situation.

And the crime rate will continue to increase.
In the next elections the cANCer will probably allow Zimbabweans to vote as well.

Planning to be out of here come the new year. Things are not looking good at this rate.

I really get where you're coming from but think about my next statement for a minute. (Just my personal opinion)

Isn't it time we South Africans took our country back from these scumbags who in 22 years have destroyed everything we and our parents have worked for?

I get what you're saying. Personally I don't have time for that. Not getting any younger and wanting to buy my own place and settle down permanently. Have to take care of No.1

But we have a Democracy and this is what the masses want. Perhaps it is Democrazy that is flawed.

The masses that are living below the poverty line while their leaders live it up Nkandla style......
Excellent democracy we have......

I know this subject has been debated to death, but debating never got anyone anywhere....

You got to do what you got to do..... ;) Go forth and prosper my son!

Split South Africa up into nation states, there are plenty of people from all backgrounds who want to see their own traditional ways promulgated, e.g. http://voices.news24.com/sandiso-ba...the-institutions-of-learning-in-south-africa/

Could be an option, Could also lead to factions trying to eradicate each other in the style of Rwanda and other "ethnic cleansing" scenarios.
This "ethnic cleansing" is already happening in South Africa, We are al aware of it but do nothing about it, the ANC of today is NOT the legacy Nelson Mandela wanted to leave behind. (again, my own personal opinion)

No easy way out then.

LOL epic lol. Thanks... do you think for a sec these "like it" lolol-status-updaters are going to actually do something?

Here's the thing. After RSA has gone to ****, they might wake up and then do something.

Only our inaction to blame; we let it go on, we let it become what it is.

You are right, people are either lazy or extremely despondent. I know people who don't even bother reporting certain incidents at the police station, 'knowing' that nothing will come from it (and perhaps they are right). I get the impression that people report incidents to the police for statements, affidavits and insurance purposes rather than problem resolution. Likewise people are not active (save on the keyboard perhaps), knowing that there is so much incompetence and bureaucracy out there. We should probably start at grass-roots level and at least join the neighbourhood watch as one member here suggested.

Must be a lie. Everything is fantastic in Zim. It's white journo's with agendas.
