So we've got a Mail Server hosted overseas. The accounts have had a real "delay" on incoming mail since early this morning, possibly even yesterday if we didn't notice.

The issue is, Gmail is exactly the same. This is where it gets weird to me. What could the issue be? Is there some cable that is causing all International email/protocols to reach us too late (latency on mail protocols) etc?

Is anyone experiencing the same?

This is evident on my PC, Blackberry, you name it.

I can connect to this forum and CNN and many other international websites just fine but I can't connect to the Google search page or my Yahoo e-mail account.

You seem lost. I'm not talking about internet connectivity. I'm talking about "email" only. Incoming and outgoing of Internationally hosted email.

I'm not lost, I know what e-mail traffic and e-mail protocols are, but I thought their might be some weird relation.

So all other traffic is unaffected? If so check your local service provider if they are fiddling with mail ports. I doubt that after you pass your ISP anyone else would fiddle around with specifically just your mail traffic

As I said, this affects services such as Vodacom BIS, Vodacom 3G/HSDPA & specifically Gmail on these connections. The other delays where the hosted mail server is might be related to the Host yes, but it's just a strange coincidence that both would have the same issue at the same time. Gmail is also hosted by Google, so this becomes a question about connectivity through our borders/cables as I mentioned.

Thanks you Awesome "lurkers" and Agents of success that fix the interwebs for us normal peeps in the world.

Last night the internet started flying, the Mail delay issue was resolved, all without any notification or hitch :)
We will write Novels about stuff like this one day, just watch...
