Massive land reform scam uncovered: report

It says a lot about our Government that something like this can be done so many times and at such a scale, it's not like it could be done by 1 or 2 people, a whole chain of people must have seen what was going on and either did nothing or benefited from it.
 
Another day another story of fraud and corruption.

Why does this Government that clearly doesn't give a flying f@ck about anyone other than themselves have so much support. Are the majority of the people in this country that stupid?

The report was handed over to President Ramaphosa in March 2018 but was only recently uncovered by BusinessDay after it submitted a Promotion to Access to Information Application (PAIA).

Yep, Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC would not have peeped a word. He would not want international investors or other governments hear about this.

CR cannot wait to get his hands on white-owned land so that it could be distributed to his family and cronies.

As part of the report, the SIU probed 148 land reform projects between 2011 and 2017, finding that a ‘complete lack of controls’ led to fraudulent activities on an enormous scale.

In one such project, grants were made available to beneficiaries to cover the costs of the acquisition of agricultural land.

These beneficiaries were then expected to stay and work on the farms they were given as a way of paying back some of the money they had received.

However, the SIU found that in many of these cases thousands of alleged beneficiaries were not even aware of the project and had never been to their farms.

Others had never lived or worked on a farm and did not qualify for grants.

While the report led to more than 24 farms valued at more than R382 million being forfeited to the state, most of those implicated by the report have not faced prosecution, with a National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson telling BusinessDay that investigations were still ongoing.

I think it is hitting home for many that the ANC cannot be saved, and is a snake that is halfway through eating itself. Unfortunately, that 1st world / 3rd world mix we had going, is going one way.
