morning

I bought a clutch master cylinder kit yesterday and had it fitted due to my master cylinder leaking down the pedal . now this pedal has been leaking for around 3 months and had no problems changing gears. got the car back from mechanics and the clutch take was very low, not even 2 cm and it would take gear. got home fine but felt that something isnt right, when i had to pickup the missus from work at 5 there was no clutch at all - you could switch the car off and still would not change into 1st or R so i had to arrange temp alternative transport .

all they changed were the rubbers inside the uno's master cylinder and refitted it.

did the guys who were bleeding the clutch / refitting the tube, mess up somewhere? :erm:

i got the mech manager to come to my house at 7 this morning, will check if he pitches up

i bought the kit so that i could save up and in 2 months put on a new master cylinder all together.

From my experience its just a case of it needing a bleed, if he has done that then you might find that the seals have been put in the wrong way round and that its is pulling in some air as you pump it ( hence why there was "some" clutch when you got it and none at all after a while.

Hope this helps.

shot i will definitely have him take a look at it when i get there, he told me to come to his garage which is just down the road and then they will take a look. thanx for the replies ! . he says it could be the clutch plate , same thing he said last time the slave went. the car hasn't been raced and has been driven 60000km over 10 years so its definitely not that at all.

ill report back in 3 or so hours with an update :)

A new master cylinder cost me around R200 for my UNO (unos for Africa, Pretoria, van der hoff street) and took me about 20 minutes to put in. That was 4 years back.

If it is not leaking anywhere they probably put the seals in the wrong way or did not bleed it properly. If it is leaking it may be damaged.

Did you check to see if it has fluid in?

report :

while i did struggle this morning after a few pumps the car came to . everything was working fine and i made it all the way to pinetown > mech garage and back home. you can feel that the clutch has a lot better responsiveness in as to how it was before.

one of the mechs said that the guy who put on my cylinder always gives hassles to customers and that he will sort me out and not to worry. (he put the clutch slave in last year and didnt need to visit again :) he is really good)
he also said that i might need to get a new cylinder rather than having to struggle with pumping and clutch getting air in, i will have to test again at 2pm today and if its still not right they will fit me a new cylinder. they go for around R275-R285 here in durbs queensburgh

checks : car has fluids in all departments (i do this every 4 days)

i suspect it wasnt bled properly.

i left it now for several hours so that it could catch air (a lot longer than yesterday afternoon) but nothing , i even drove around the block and everything is fine. no leaks, no scratching gears. responsive clutch > it feels like my dads tuscon tbh !! neewwww:D

srsly i dont know, if it does this tomorrow morning then i will have to take it back and put in a new cylinder.

but otherwise, i think the kit just kicked in and is worn in and the clutch is back to normal operating standards. (hold thumbs)
