Let a = b

a^2 = ab (multiply by a)
a^2 - b^2 = ab - b^2 (minus b^2)
(a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b)
a+b = b (divide by a-b)
b + b = b (as a =b)
2b = b
2 = 1

:oops:

On the 4th line you divide by 0.

So this ultimately becomes the same as saying since 1xinf = 2xinf, 1=2. Infinity is not part of the field.

Is fun though :)

Yip, this is a pretty well known example.

High school concept, division by zero - undefined op.
