Matric Holiday

Agreed. If you want to have fun go to the organised places in Umhlanga. There are plenty of hotels during that time that will take you straight to the parties via organised shuttles such as Breakers or Cabana and other hotels want nothing to do with matrics. Try get a place in or in walking distance of Laguana drive. Place is filled with other matrics and the beach is good day fun if you will be awake during the day. I honestly suggest getting a plane there as well. Have fun =D I know I did

Haha, avoid Mybroadband unless you want to get ignorant, judgmental, dumb**** answers. I hope you reported post #2. I would have, if I started the thread.

The answer you're looking for is Google. Just search the net a bit and I'm sure you'll find something suitable. Especially if you don't want to make your budget known.

It wasn't ignorant, maybe generalised but Margate isn't really the place to go for vac unless you are going for a place without the clubs and parties and surrounded by Afrikaaners. For some people that might be exaxtly what they want

Lol I don't mean Afrikaans people in general, just avoid it during matric vac.Every person that I have spoken has experienced the same problem, these idiots who always want to fight and who are so racist but they are not from margate but like Bethlehem and stuff (dad is actually from there :D ). Eg my brother who went last year saw some Afrikaans matrics push a black girl down stairs for nothing and just laughing.

My experience was no different because if you don't talk afrikaans they want to fight you all the time and its horrible.

@ boramk, I'll leave you with the same advice I gave Comrade Fudzy. At the very least learn how to spell the name of the people you're spewing your hateful bull**** at. It just takes a little something away from your opinions if you can't even spell something like "Afrikaner" properly, in the same way that a Jerry Springer audience member with a sign saying "I hate Joos" does.

Why so grumpy? :)

I'm not grumpy, you just came out of nowhere with that "statement", not related to the OP. I know what you're saying, some people are just *******s. They push their own friends down stairs as well. 18 year-old kids fight with everyone, don't you remember being in school? Anyways, I'm out for the night.

PS: you speak a language, you don't talk it :P

Yeah,im sorry if I offended you man.The 3 nice afrikaans people I met (who I got drunk with at there place) just said they trying to protect the Afrikaans culture and I guess I understand just get angry that every night they wanted to fight us :) Seriously you are right, young people are dumb. The nice afrikaans peeps are at oppikoppi, crazy guys and can't wait!

google bro.. but remember a lot of place don't take people under 21 unless accompanied by someone who is or something similar.

If you go early dec you should get good rates but after about 15th it becomes high season and a lot more expensive, google around for rates etc

If you want cheap accommodation go to a backpackers lodge!

We slept at a backpackers lodge during our matric vacation in toti/Warner beach and it was a blast. Instead of going out most of the nights we stayed at the place as we met so many interesting people from all over the world. The Ausies and Austrians were the most fun though... We showed them how to braai and they bought most of the booze. The Australian girls had no problem lying naked next to the swimming pool :p :D

Erm no, people are aggro as fsck in Margate, I have no idea why you are so angry and think I hate Afrikaners, Im the last person on this earth to dislike a certain culture of people. Oh and all my posts for the past week has been via my phone SORRY if my spelling offends

Take a tent or 5 and go to a caravan park.

It works out about R 50 - R 100 a night for a stand with 4 people I think (Haven't done it in ages so prices and structures may have changed.
Also, booking way in advance (like now) saved you buckets of cash. Also try and go with a bigger car, like a combi or a bakkie with a canopy. That way you all save on fuel and have more money to use on food, drinks and woman.

What we did was everyone had to give a set amount of money was (R 1 200 back in 1998) we where 9 guys. All that money went to one person who arranged everything. We just had to show up at the pick-up point and we're sorted. It was a blast and will remember it for the rest of my life.

Just a warning, don't go camping with girls...they moan about everything :D

Personally, I had a great time in Margate. Found the people friendly and welcoming and I am English. Everyone left their doors open and you could just go from party to party all day. Twas great. We went to Umhlanga afterwards and it was k@k. There was mention of aggressive folk in Margate, which is quite funny because the only fights and general douchebags I came across were in Umhlanga. You get douchebags everywhere and in all cultures.

I found out (now that I'm older and wiser) that places like Sodwana and St. Lucia id where the hot girls hang out around the camp sites with their folks. Going to places like Margate and so on just increases the competition. In February we went to Sodwana to go dive and the girls there in the camp sites ranged from 14 till about 26. And there where lots of them. Just too bad I'm married :o

The beaten track isn't always the best place to go out and have some fun ;)

In my matric week in Balito my group of friends got into a fight with the locals. To this day I still have no clue why... all of us a far from aggressive. Wrong place wrong time I guess

@OP look at www.getaway.co.za. Thats were I found the place my mates stayed in. It also might be worthwhile to look north rather (Balito, Umhlanga) as you're closer to Durban and no doubt there will be massive jols happening at that time.
