Matrix 4 gets a release date

I honestly don't understand how any competent filmmaker (which they clearly are) thinks this is a good idea. It just pulls you out of the movie.
I mean… a film franchise that got ordinary people thinking about metaphysics goes meta… didn’t see that coming.

6.5/10. Worth the watch, at least. Agree with @Herr der Verboten that it was more of an epilogue than its own film but as a Matrix fan I didn’t mind.

Also Bugs is kinda hot.

Wonder if they should have gone with the matrix 3.5 instead

I think she was one of the better actors in the lot. I would have to go and double check at some stage but it is just too early for now. So what did you think of the camera work? It did at times feel a bit too close for me, as I would have appreciated wider shots or shots with more information (the scene, etc) than jus the pimples on neo's face.

Much like all the other movies.
F&F, Matrix, John Wick - they should have all stopped after the second one.
Like the classic: Which hellraiser should I go for or all of them? just stick to the first one and the second if you want more of the story without being drained in the sequels.

Personal preference still is that the 1st one is the literal best with 2 being ok and 3 just going weir. As I said I really like 2's highway scene with the bike. It makes me want to go for a ride...

I liked the fact that they took the final idea of the original trilogy and ran with that whilst giving some die hard fans just enough to reminisce over.

Their motivation to destroy the Matrix has long been extinguished so what were left with is a jacked up Matrix with an even more sophisticated meta world. A lot has changed in 60 years it seems.

Thats why humans can only now change stuff within it like a "sky full of rainbows".

There were some great ideas here albeit not fully realised but it certainly re-opened the door the sequels certainly shut on the franchise.

If anything it did feel like a worthy continuation of the series unlike Star Wars which just wants to remake what made it popular (looking at you Force Awakens) with absolutely nothing new to say.

Think this review covers much of what I thought of the movie. Loved parts of it, others not so much.

Sure, it's nice to actually see and follow what's going on in punch-ups that are clearer than the incomprehensible shaky-cam and whiplash-inducing editing that ruins all too many action scenes lately.
Did we watch different movies

I might’ve been better off having not watched it.
I fell asleep after watching it for 30 minutes last night. It comes across as a spoof movie, milking its predecessor for all it has. They tried so hard to recreate M1 by adding a layer of complexity with this concept that everyone is imprisoned and manipulated all over again, and the proof thereof is staring them right in the face...

It was not a bad movie there are scenes that I really enjoyed.

The ending fight felt a bit generic almost like a video game
where you have to do the same move over and over.

My score for it is at least 6.5 to 7.

This "layer of complexity" is not a new concept.

The Architect already explains it in M2.

M4 Should have been about the failed one/neo or at least not more of neo and trinity. The very problems of star wars being overly focused on and about Luke.
