Matrix 4 gets a release date

I miss the forum feature that showed you how many posts each user had in a thread.
At least one's own postcount per thread has been working again for months.

For those who don't know - hover your mouse cursor over the part of the OP avatar (left of the thread title) that is your own miniature avatar.

I used to have a hard on for this movie series too, most here actually.

There seems to be one person here in particular who has a hard on for this movie...
Particularly two who keeps open the floods of videos like we need it as facebook status updates. But internet is a free place to strut and peddle your junk...

edit:
You are safe at 5 posts total. haha.
But not so much in https://mybroadband.co.za/forum/threads/xbox-series-x-s.1104073 with ±200. Xbox hard on?

Anyway back to the topic at hand.

I felt this was not as good as M1, better than M3, probably at the same level as M2.

If you view it as a sci-fi movie, without obsessing over all the political crap that keeps you awake at night, it's a decent movie. I'd say a 6-7/10.

As a side note, I always felt that Trinity was a pretty useless character in the first 3 movies - just a love interest for the main character and a distraction for the viewer, without bringing anything to the party as a team member.

It was great to see her gain more prominence in this movie. Ignore all the BS political noise from feminists and anti-feminists and just view her as a character in the series - it was great for her character...

So, no worries for you that it was considered too much like a remake of M1, and all the "self-referential" baggage?

(Careful, your answer could change my universe  )

T2 could also be seen as too much of a remake of T1.

Why baggage when it can be seen as satire and our obsession with sequels and fan service.

It was a commentary on the human need for familiarity and predictability and being averse to change , people wanting to relive the past and have that first-time Matrix experience all over again, and how anything else just wouldn’t be good enough. That was pretty much spoon-fed to the audience, and I think Lana was right in the end.

It’s like how Disney saw that people hated George Lucas changing things up, so they remade the original film (A New Hope -> TFA) and people still hated it.

Why mess with the escapism. I'm not into that with a classic like this, nor many others I'm sure.

Maybe the bottom line is how much this factor dominated, and distracted?

The story arc is effectively complete. Focus on the escapism within this story and all you have is a remake/reboot.
Try something different and youll have the detractors who'll complain they're killing the legacy ( look what they did to Luke Skywalker they shouted from the hills)

So present something old, something new, something to talk about, and reopen the universe to other possibilities. I think they pulled it off admirably albeit not perfectly. Could easily have been a Terminator: Dark Fate.

I hear you. But...

1. I don't applaud tricky profiteers on the whole.

2. Terminator, it made sense, more modern timeline can reflect reality as it's less sci-fi-ish in that respect. Star Wars, I thought over the top there too but not much of a fan, more into Star Trek. For Matrix, it's a disgraceful disrespect, story complete or not, too many things are over-engineered by Hollyweird these days.

Will watch it when the sting / stink wears off :p

It was probably one of the few movies being kunfu/gunplay centered where neo does nothing more than force-push? I wonder what the idea was for him to be disarmed, and not much flying from the tree tops while kicking ass. I still think that the alt-neo/failed the one should have taken center stage and not saving private trinity.

Can't wait for directors commentary or at least something that finally explains what they were aiming for with previous three and this one.

As for the NuStaWars: I'd rather stick to original three with the prequals supplementing. At least we got Mandalorian out of that mess...

I wonder if this isn't just more snowflake-is-right messaging, they are trying so hard to push those and related messages.
