I'm comparing these 3:
Matrix vs Tracker vs Netstar (R169 pm option)

They all are identical in terms of features& price.
Which one would you reccomend?

I tried subscribing to the Netstar. I clicked the "give me a quote" button on the Netstar website.

I was send a couple of Word documents, of which one was the application. Have any of you ever tried filling in one of those forms in Word - a nightmare to say the least. The formatting goes totally haywire.

To print it out and fill it in is also not so easy. The space is very limited, and the chance of them (Netstar) mis-interpreting the information is huge.

One would imagine that Netstar would have one of those fill-able PDF files which you can submit online, or print, sign & fax..

Their respose times have not been satisfactory either.

Having said that, Netstar does offer a good product at a good price - Cyber Sleuth Supreme @ R 169 till the end of the month.

I sell both Netstar and Tracker - Netstar is easier to deal with from my point of view, but Tracker is also an excellent product. Matrix is a blip on the horizon in comparison.

Why exactly are you looking at them out of interest?

If my car was stolen I personally wouldn't want it back.

I would go for either Tracker or Netstar. Stay far far far away from Matrix!!

I have tracker - I was hijacked 2 years ago in jhb - tracker recovered by car within 30 minutes of the incident and drove it back to the police station. Very professional people on the call center. Still have the car to this day.

thanks for the heads up.

Netstar is running a promo for the Early Warning System for R159 until the end of the month. On their website it is advertised normal price for R315 per month.

What's the catch with this deal? (besides signing the 36 month contract).

EARLY WARNING
This top of the range radio frequency system provides advanced features such as panic button, ignition link, siren , and optional external arming and interior motion sensor. Since inception in 1994, this product has saved many customers from life-threatening situations, and you don't have to call Altech Netstar to get your own back!
R 159.00 per month

I'm looking for the cheapest option available that is insurance approved.
Thus far all the entry level options I presented to my insurance were not approved since the car's value is over R250k.

R79 p.m.

If your insurers don't accept - change insurer as they are approved.

I have a tracker, think its R89 per month. Have not had to use it so far (thank goodness) but I have tested it a few times without hassle.

You sure it is that cheap? I pay around R160 per month for my tracker!

It's discounted on a 36 month contract with some insurers.

If you are over 25, have been insured before and your current insurance is demanding one.. then investigate changing insurers.

Mine tried it on me, and I told them to get knotted. They would give me a R50 discount on my premium if I installed a tracker (which cost more than the premium discount), they were dumbfounded when I asked them WHY they thought I should spend more money than I currently am and receive no real benefit to me, except possibly getting my car back when I don't want it back.

Lol, R50 discount is quite nice. When I asked what difference it made if I paid an extra 80/90 rand for tracker it was only about R10 diff on premium. I guess if you have a more expensive car it becomes more worth it.

I have Skytrax (tracker) through Outsurance for R89PM.

More benefits than just getting your car back.
I use it to generate my annual logbook for SARS and my folks in Durban use it to estimate our arrival time when we travel down from JHB to see them :)

I've been using tracker since 2007. No such luck for me. They could at least mail me some KY for Xmas if they are going to fu©k me like that :(

thread revival!!!

was just on the tracker website but seems they want you to signup before getting a look at the prices? what are you paying for tracker and netstar? just the 'recover' option.
