What is the maximum amount of ram Win Xp 32bit handle for gaming? IIRC it 4GBs including Video memory

32-Bit Windows can address 4GB of OVERALL System Memory, not 4GB of RAM - This will include ram & graphics memory
System Info (My Computer properties) will show something under 4GB

I have 512 MB card so lets say it can only read 3.5GB normal RAM. The extra 500mb would give a larger performance boost than losing dual channel @ 3GB?

Yes

but discrete GPU ram is always better ( VRAM )

Upgrade to a 64 bit OS = 128Gb of memory.

Much as I dislike Windows 7 the 64 bit version is the way to go. Installs very nicely and lots of native driver support.

PITY:( about the way the interface works. I like being able to work the way * I * want to NOT the MS dumbed down way.
