Could the professor sue for libel here? He has just accused the professor of being racist without any evidence whatsoever.

Also, the court order relates to the suspension, not to the charge of his racism against the lecturer.

Political activist and prominent figure in the Rhodes Must Fall (RMF) movement, Chumani Maxwele, has won a High Court ruling against his suspension by the University of Cape Town (UCT).

This follows the original decision by UCT to suspend Maxwele for allegedly racially abusing and threatening a lecturer on May 1.

Following the Cape Town High Court’s ruling, Maxwele posted a Facebook statement taking a fresh aim at the “politically motivated suspension” imposed by the “racist University of Cape Town”.

Speaking exclusively to The Citizen, Chumani has clarified his comments, again asserting that “the suspension was illegal. It didn’t make any sense; the University cannot suspend me over the words of a racist professor alone.”

“But now the High Court has set this aside and we can see the racist nature of [UCT],” he continued.

The allegations and original suspension of Maxwele were events seen by many as contentious. After having his suspension overturned by UCT’s own appeals committee, the University discarded their body’s order and resuspended Maxwele.

“If your own appeals committee rules against you and you ignore it, then what do you call that? The allegations were never tested. UCT acted without due course, they just tried to silence me,” Maxwele continued.

For Maxwele, the ruling is a landmark in RMF’s efforts to decolonise South African institutions.

“We will continue to question racism within the University. There must not be any racist iconography in this institution. The appointment of black lecturers must be be made a point of importance.

“This is our historical responsibility,” he continued, adding that his efforts will not cease in the foreseeable future.

“It is critically important to act now … our celebration of Steve Biko is not based on Facebook statuses, it is based on action.”

When you demand the downfall of ''racist universities'' by demanding the employment of lecturers based purely on race, does this not make your agenda racist as well? Or at least racially biased and racially intolerant? Is Maxwele not the very same thing he claims to be fighting?

Rhodes Must Fall is a politically irrelevant organisation because they have no concrete policy to back up their far-fetched ideological demands (e.g. free education up to PhD level for all black students, in a context where universities are already underfunded).

They don't say if the suspension was set aside on procedural or material grounds. As I recall, there were black eye-witnesses to the incident where Maxwele called for whites to be killed.

Nah only whites can be racist.

The concept of "anti racism" as carried out by Marxists is effectively a code word for "anti white".

That's all it is. Nothing more and nothing less. Can we drop the pretences please libtards ?

Yet again Orwell called it.
"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".

The world has always been mad, no madder than when we enslaved our fellow man and worse.
We could blame ignorance then. We have all the evidence in the world to suggest Marxism does not better anyones life. We also have no evidence to show that anyone but majority Europeans can build, sustain and advance a society of European standards. So this multicultural model will ruin civilisation

His statements now can get him suspended again.

I wonder whether that's ultimately his goal? More controversy = more marketing for him. Maybe UCT should let him be for a while: he'd likely get more desperate and radical and thus closer to suspension/expulsion.
