May 2 to be declared a public holiday(?)

Just heard on KFM news that Pres. Mbeki will be declaring May the 2nd a public holiday after complaints by the unions.

This is so cool, I am going on leave around that time - I only have to put in 2 working days leave for a 10 day vacation

[RANT]We have to many public holidays in this country as it is. This is why South Africa will never be on par with eastern economies that pulled themselves up from third world status. People are just to fccking lazy.
Developing countries should be doing away with paid public holidays not creating more. People should be working more hours not less.
How can people be so complacent in their jobs when we have something like a 30% unemployment rate.[/RANT]
