Hi

Anyone know how/where to get a mazda 2 remote key replaced with out paying 3 500 at the dealers? I see overseas theyre available but cant find any in sa.

Cheers

Are you just looking for the remote or the actual key? I bought a remote for my Astra from the UK for R350 while GMSA wants R3000.
The key itself (metal) is a different story though.

I doubt its just as simple as "buying" a key. That key would need to be paired with the ECU as well...

On newer cars it could be more tricky however in my case they only had about 5 different types of remotes. I bought a used one with the same chipset and frequency as the one I had and then followed the resync process as described in the manual of the car.

If you are replacing the transponder then you'll need to take it to the dealers because as YingYang pointed out, the transponder is married to the ECU and a few other components as well.
