Mazda 3

Doesn't look too bad at all, much better than what Ford itself offers.

No release window yet though. I'd estimate July ish?

Looks stunning!

I can't stand it when salesmen (of any sort) know less about their product than the customer.

This ^, what are they getting paid for then. Pretty dope car though. Would be interested in finding out the price / launch date.

So I am currently looking to buy cars, and came across this:

http://www.iol.co.za/motoring/cars/mazda/2014-mazda3-is-new-from-the-ground-up-1.1538190

Gave Mazda a call earlier and they have no idea what I'm talking about.
Anyone know if these are in SA?

I'm sure they know very well, this is not a new car. What they don't want to tell you is that Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 for that matter, both have been released year, year and a half ago and we still can not get them here. They just pretend that they don't know about it. I have asked Mazda SA more then a year ago, when "new" Mazda 6 is going to be released locally and they did not even reply to my e-mail. At that time the car was available world wide and i even saw it on the streets of Bulgaria April last year.
Price in EU is aroung 15k euro for 1.5 and 18k euro for 2.0.

Pretty disappointed with them for not knowing anything about it when the article was written around 10 months ago (checked the comment dates on that page)...

The dealer showed me the old mazda 3 (smiley face looking one) when I asked about the 2014 facelifted version. :erm:

I must say I love my 6 (08 model), have had no issues at all over the last 6 odd years. If ever I am in the market for a new car I would always look at Mazda but if the sales people are not clued up I take my money elsewhere... (Hello Subaru / Volvo)

It's not a facelift... Brand new car.

I think he meant when he asked about the 2014 one (the less smiley one) he was shown the original smiley one (2012 version)

Nope... He is saying the 2014 (the one in post #1) is a facelift. A facelift is obviously the mid-life refresh of an existing model, which this is not.

Maybe this is why they did not know about the 2014 "facelift"... It does not exist...

:erm::D

Ah apologies, totally mistaken the meaning of "facelift" :p

I did show them the picture on my phone along with a youtube video of the model and they also did not have any idea... I heard some say in the background that it's only a concept car, so I was like :erm: :wtf: then left...

^ Happens all too often

Unless you buy a Subaru from me! ;)

Actually, I agree with you - I have always been horrified at the lack of product knowledge of the "average" salesman.

If I don't know everything about any upcoming Subaru, plus be able to rattle off stats in my sleep of any of the existing models, I am dead in the water.

Guys who think that selling cars is just like working for Makro, are the idiots who don't know their product.

I have also found with the Fiat and Alfa range that the average Alfa buyer knows the entire history of the car PLUS Alfa Romeo, before he walks onto the floor, and if you don't know what he is talking about, you are lost. Management decided to employ a pretty girl to sell Alfa and Fiat - she left after 3 months, having sold nothing, whereas I had closed 90% of the people that I had seen, as I actually know Fiat/Alfa history and can talk about the different models without having to look anything up.

Subaru buyers are not that different, however, they tend to be highly analytic, and do their homework very well before they ever even think of coming in to see the car in the flesh....and heaven help you if you don't know anything about any new concept Subaru that might have been thought of! :p
