So they finally brought this car to SA, Skyactiv and all which is great.

But:
- No diesel, okay thats no train smash
- Prices WTF?
- R300k gets you nothing not even cruise control, alarm, climate control NOT EVEN 1 mag just plastic wheel covers :wtf:
- Only the top spec gets these things for R400k :wtf: WWWWWTF everything is cheaper, iX35, sportage, ASX absolutely everything is cheaper :(

So i guess its not hard enough for Mazda SA to play second fiddle at the Ford dealerships they think its a brilliant idea to price themselves out of the market as well.

So sad I waited for this car to come to SA

Yeah.. I'm disappointed.

Was seriously considering one, but that price for the underpowered 2l petrol engine, no thanks.

Price and spec level is insane - nobody is going to buy them.

I now hear that the midspec one is the one to go for R336 900 as it comes with most extras apparently they all have climate control just not dual climate control that's only on the top spec one. They all have stop/start

Only problem is you'll get the same spec iX35 or Sportage for R300k with 1 or 2 little extras more like reverse camera, vented seats etc.
So its basically R37k more for stop/start then and some colour display donno what it does, and i guess better handling as Mazdas tend to have. Will still test drive one.

IMO That's why the old days of Toyota, Mazda, Ford and Nissan raking in the top sales and profits are gone now Hyundai, KIA and Daewoo will be the forerunners - about time the old rip-offs got the monopoly broken and time to give value for money.

I saw the cx5 in the showroom yesterday... It's such a beautifully made suv... Very spacious but too pricey imo... The middle of the range one looks like the best value(2.0lt petrol auto) but at R336k it's still comparatively steep and doesn't come with leather or a maintenance plan.... The diesels are only coming out next year... I'll wait till the end of the year and Mazda offers good discounts I might just get one... Also looking at the qashqai(2.0lt accents ntec version for R280k) ... Any comments on the qashqai guys?

Qashqai is the top rated crossover in Europe, so it must be doing something right.

The downsides are a rather dated interior, not a big deal though. Apparently a new model is coming in the next year or so to address that.

Yes joker.. The qashqai is doing really well worldwide bt the dash does not inspire me at all.... The facelifted X1 is coming out in September so that might be an option with thm releasing a 1.6 and 1.8 diesel...
