Just to set it straight... In SA the cars were not named the same as everywhere else the 323 is the 3 that we have now(internationally).
It had many names 323, Familia, Protégé, Axela, Lazer, Allegro, Activa, Etude to name a few, the list goes on and on and on...

Mazda had a bit of an identity crisis
From new to old(in SA) its the:

Etude(1.6, 1.8 & 2.0) ....... Internationally you could get Diesel, 2.0turbo etc even MazdaSpeed versions
Astina(1.8 4door coupe of Etude) ....... Internationally you could get 1.5 and 1.8turbo

Dont know the bookvalues, rule with Mazdas... Keep in mind they are very durable & reliable but they lose value quickly so 2nd hand is a steal. Pick it up as dirt cheap as possible in good condition and u cant go wrong.
