Mazda3 Major Service Before Buying

Hi!
I'm looking to buy a Mazda3 and I'm close to signing the OTP.

The car's last service was March 2023 and since it put on about 5k km on from the log book.

Now, my only concern is to ensure it's not close to a major service and I'm being stuck with the bill.

Any advice?
 
Major service will be anywhere around the 90 000km to 120 000km mark. So if it is hovering around that mileage, major service will be due imminently.

It's currently on 74k km
 
If the car is in good condition with fsh at a good price I would not worry about the next service being a major one. At that mileage it's not going to be crazy expensive and if you are worried about that perhaps consider a Tazz.

The salesman gave me an OTP and requested I sign the first page so I can send it to get finance.

The document is 3 pages and he only requested I sign the first page with the pricing details in it. The other pages has the other details such as sale agreement and also requires my signature, I just signed the first page.

If I find an issue with the vehicle, can I still back out or am I legally blinded to take the vehicle?

(I already viewed the vehicle and got someone who knows a lot about cars to check it out beforehand)

If you havent taken delivery then you can still back out.

If this is webuycars... Don't...
 
I applied for finance through the dealership but my only concern is not being thorough when it comes to checking the mechanics.

Do you think I should do a Dekra Condition Report? Or rather insist that they do and I'll take the vehicle if it comes back clean.

I also see that Mazda does a Diagnosis check for R1350 but idk if that's good enough.

But why all this suspicion all of a sudden? The car has 74k kms, which is very low kms, it is a Mazda, it is being bought from a reputable dealership.

Is there something you are not telling us? Have you maybe changed your mind and you don't want the vehicle anymore? There might be some admin fee you are liable for since the dealership went through all the trouble of applying for finance on your behalf.

If you are having second thoughts, just be forthright with the dealer, there is nothing wrong about changing your mind.
 
By signing the OTP the only thing that will get you out of it without costs is in the event that you don't get finance at all.
What year model Mazda 3? Major service is distance and km dependent on cambelt engines.

No second thoughts, I really want the car. It's just a lot of money and I want to make sure I'm not buying trouble.

Perhaps I'm just overthinking it lol

2015 with FSH. The services was done at Mazda Bruma which is now closed down haha.
 
The only other thing I have heard is that the 1.6 is heavy on petrol, because it's not the Skyactiv engine but older tech.

I don’t think any dealership will let you take their car to a 3rd party for diagnosing.

You have 2 options:
1. Request a copy of Audis inspection on the car. They did one before the accepted the trade-in and should be able to give you a copy.
2. After you take delivery, take it to Mazda and have it thoroughly checked. If there is anything worth fighting about, then you bring it up. You will be in the “cooling off” period (not that it means anything in car sales world) so they will be proactive.
3. Walk away. You will encounter the same issues with your next car too though unless you buy privately.
