The prices are out for the new macbooks and pros! R19999 for the top the line macbook! Alittle rediculous i think cheepest macbook is R12999 .... i wanted the new macbook so badly but with these prices i would rather go and buy a sony or HP!

the prices have been debated at length on numerous other threads..
The results were as follows:

1. everyone has a dislike for core and its za store
2. The prices are insane, but you still want one
3. Pvt/grey imports are going to increase.

i second that mate. Once u go mac u dont go back...especially to MS. Save up.

LabAnimal, what was it you didn't like about Mac? I switched at the beginning of the year and will never go back to Windows if I can help it. Just curious.

is there by any possibility that the mb will drop in price? and just 1 quick question.... if i buy a mb in greece for instance can it work here even if thetre is different power supply there?

Greece, like all of Europe, uses 220v (as does SA) and the two pronged adapters. Besides that laptop power supplies can handle both 220v and 110v and you only need the adapter to fit it into your power socket.

Yes. The power supplies are standard and will work worldwide.
You can simply fit a S.A. plug to the power cord by cutting the eu. plug off.

As a price study, I looked at the Dell Studio line to compare it to a Macbook Pro. In nearly identical specs (the Dell had a slightly slower processor and only DDR2 Ram) the cheapest Macbook Pro is a massive 6K cheaper.

So for all those who think that the Mac is an expensive PC then go look at your local Dell store.

Well, don't know about the MB, but the price of the MacPro (desktop) just dropped at the ZA store from R38K to R35K! Woo hoo! If it gets down to R31K I'm buying.

Oh crap you're right the prices have dropped...
but still a thousand short for a new macbook alloy. I will definitely buy if the prices drop a little more, so far so good.

The OS feels lifeless and boring, it feels very generic. I like to feel a system's personality... if you know what i mean, and with OSX It felt like it was just churning along going nowhere... It does the same things Windows does, but just not as grand! The pricetag just doesnt warrant what you're getting out of your mac!

By all means, Some people prefers OSX, I prefer MS.

That made no sense at all? A systems personality? churning along going nowhere? i have no idea what u mean by that at all?

Not as grand as windows? uh.....surely u dont mean the interface?
