In an affidavit filed on Monday, acting National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) head Mokotedi Mpshe also revealed that Pikoli informed six top government officials - including Justice Minister Brigitte Mabandla, Safety and Security Minister Charles Nqakula and Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota - of the "serious" graft claims against Selebi.

Mpshe's statements that there was "constant communication" between Pikoli, Mbeki and Mabandla about the Selebi investigation contradict Mbeki's claims that he was ignorant of any alleged wrongdoing by Selebi.
...
Earlier this year Mbeki told the media: "I have said this before, many times, that if there was anybody with information that shows Selebi has done wrong things, I would act on it. Nobody did, nobody came to me."
What an ass.

I guess Mbeki's gonna suspend this guy as well...psst an ass indeed

Mbeki wants us to believe that the police was fighting crime all this time.
To me it seems that no one is fighting crime, rather they are the perpetrators,or turn a blind eye to crime.
If they were fighting crime, would you say they are successfull?

So Mbeki is now the prosecuting authority?
Who the hell is he to decide what evidence is sufficient? Is that not what our courts are for?

Of course Selebi was fighting crime - he doesn't want anyone else on his turf. :)

I smell an impeachment in the air...
I reckon he is dreading the day he leaves office. His involvement in things like the Arms deal and so on will come out in the open then. He should be criminally charged for this (in)action.

So, Mbeki's appointment seems to be doing his job so far. Mbeki’s motives about suspending Vusi still remain unclear. We can all speculate until Pikoli, Zuma and Selebi saga comes close to a conclusion.

The big question is will it ever come to a conclusion?

How do you know mbkei is lying?
You can see the strings operating his mouth moving.

That is a million dollar question indeed. I do think Zuma and Selebi will face the courts and a lot will be drawn from that process. It might not be a satisfactory 'conclusion' to some people but things will be laid to rest.

Maybe, a couple of years later, there will be some Reconciliation when retired politicians start revealing what actually was said or happening during their time. I'm thinking of all these anonymous "inside sources" that are often quoted by the media.
