If your PC has got McAfee Antivirus software, you'd better to check if the AutoUpdate process is running on background (Task manager, don't ask me how ;-)), if there is process call RuLaunch.exe, that's the one. This process keep sending and recieving information from McAfee's site all the time, which cause a lot network traffic (if your network icon show on the tray, you'll notice that the green lights never stop). From my PC, the traffic is about 80M/24hours (up+down), it's huge, you have to care about it.

My suggestion: stop the AutoUpate process and update the antivirus dat file manually.

To stop:
1. kill the RuLaunch.exe process from Task Manager
2. delete the start entry from system registry, Rulaunch.exe is under the key:
"My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WIndows\CurrentVersion\Run\"
