Johannesburg - Pastor Ray McCauley's wife Zelda is going to divorce him, the Rhema Bible Church said on Thursday.

"The executive board of Rhema Bible Church and the International Federation of Christian Churches (IFCC) are sad to announce that Pastor Ray McCauley has received from Zelda notice of her intention to file for divorce," church administrator Giet Khoza said in a statement.

Ray McCauley was "devastated", but handling the matter "spiritually".

The McCauleys had been married for 10 years. It was the third marriage for Zelda, a former model.

"Both the leadership of the IFCC and Rhema Bible Church are of the firm belief that divorce is not desirable and should be the last resort. However, they would like to respect Mrs Zelda McCauley's decision to file for divorce."

McCauley, a former bodybuilder, would in the meantime take time off work.

The couple's marriage had been on the rocks before. But after lengthy mediation by church elders, the couple reconciled.:D:wtf:

This is McCauley's second divorce.

His first wife Lyndie filed for divorce in 2000, after 21 years of marriage.

This man is a very poor example of what a Christian should be. Sad to say. He should step down and let a better man take over.
 
I sometimes think the whole "lets hate ray" movement is kinda overplayed. I'm not sure i agree the guy is such a bad person. To be honest i think he attempts to do more good than essentially all of his detractors.

LOL you have a point but bare in mind rhema is ray dude, Remember Rhema ain't no church it is a business and he is the MD.

You must check rhema on sunday, full and packed and bloody annoying. Nobody cares. They just know they go to church sign a debit order form and will be going to heaven because of it.

I think these preaches need a reeducation in their religion...

Don't get divorce and they are getting divorced left & right.

Jesus said love the children and look at what the priests end up doing :D

Agreed. In fact IMO most probably don't believe in heaven. It's just a social elitist thing to attend.

The real scandal is that he continues to call himself a christian.

Divorce and remarriage are utterly incompatible with the gospel, and didn't exist in the christian church for 1500 years, and still doesn't for the great majority of christians, ie Catholics and Orthodox. It was wayward pastors who discovered they could start their own 'church' which permitted 'remarriage' (there is no such thing in reality) and so permit what the christian church specifically forbad. No wonder people laugh at Christianity - they see the hypocrisy of so many adherents.

Mr McCauley needs prayer for repentance and conversion. Let's hope he's not too attached to money, sex and power to enter the Kingdom.

That's not strictly true. People found ways to get divorced.

Sensible people don't follow every aspect of the Bible. The hypocrisy comes in preaching one thing, and demanding that your followers adhere, and doing something else yourself. That would be a reason for people to see Christianity or Christians as hypocritical.
