I was in Canal Walk now; popped over to McD's there & I saw this new Salted Caramel Shake for R13.50.

Keen to get it but the machine is "broken"...go figure.

On my way home I pop into McD's Koeberg Road/Milnerton & decide to get the Salted Caramel Shake there; to my surprise the price is R14.50 there?!

Lastly I checked franchises all had the same prices?!

Look at the below images & you will see that the Milnerton branch differs a Rand more for the Mudpie McFlurry as well...what gives?!

The distance between both McDonald stores is all of 5km max.

I didn't even bother asking the useless staff of this pricing abnormality. I'll be going to straight Hellopeter.

They will probably come back with something about different zones, lower turnover shops, etc..

A little googling indicate that this are their terms globally, especially in the US and UK. Also the serving size, nutrient values and pricing may vary per store, also nutrition values and serve size do not apply to special customer orders. Slight variations may occur depending on the local supplier, the region, the country and the season. Lastly, this is promotional pricing which may incur variations by the owner’s discretion within an acceptable deviation.

This may be the reason that they don’t advertise pricing online.

Interesting to see that their terms and conditions in SA is governed and be interpreted pursuant to the laws in Illinois, USA.

if you feel really strongly, pm me & i'll give you direct contact details of the national brand manager.
the issue will be addressed a whole lot quicker & more efficiently

On Wednesday the van from the bakery delivered 20 trays of rolls and buns to McDonald's Plumstead. I saw them offloading at 8.15 and when I drove past at 10.30 it was still in the same place, except some bergies had prised out some of the bread from the trays. This in full view of the window where you collect your order

What is a bergie

A (usually) Cape Town man who has fallen on hard times and takes to begging for a living. In the old days, before night shelters and churches willing to open their doors, they would live in caves on the mountain, hence "bergies". A mountain in Afrikaans is a berg and there are plenty in Cape Town

Nowadays they are very prevalent and you see them at traffic lights, hanging around bottle stores, sitting on the side of the road, sleeping under an awning. My house is on the route to the station and from about 4.30 until 8.00 we get 12 to 20 people ringing the intercom asking for anything. They have spent the day going door to door and are now on their way for a meal
