So I have one of those media centre remotes for my HTPC. I've installed Windows 7, and although the IR receiver sees the remote (based on the fact that the lights on the front of the chassis blink whenever I press a button on the remote) none of the buttons actually do anything. There was no remote software in the box. Am I missing something? I figured Windows 7 would automatically detect and configure the remote. Turns out, not so much. Anyone got this combo working?

Ja, I tried that already. Neither marked solution worked for me. :(

There's a guiy on the avs forums who said he just never got it to work and gave up. I hope I have better luck.

I don't have a MCE Remote myself (although I'd probably get one soon), but I did some googling and found this software http://www.lmgestion.net/@en-us/4/22/60/article.asp. According to this article http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpromedia/thread/f84b7e8a-e697-41db-bf00-2f12ec0ba7e3 you should be able to see if Windows is actually receiving the commands. Might just help you to get closer to the problem. Good luck

EDIT: Whoops took to long to reply there, see werner got a similar program

Can get an event manager app to translate the buttons into something useful if windows is receiving signals.
