Sydney - Ewen McKenzie will coach the Wallabies to the 2015 Rugby World Cup after the Australian Rugby Union released Robbie Deans from his two-year contract six months early.

According to the smh.au website, it is understood the departing Reds head coach, who took the Reds side to a Super Rugby title in 2011, will be unveiled tomorrow as Deans's replacement.
McKenzie has seen off a powerful challenge from Brumbies coach Jake White, who was considered a strong favourite for the position just a few weeks ago.

That didn't take long...

Yoh, Deans gambled with O'Conner and lost and now he is without a job although I feel even if he had won the series he would have been sacked.

Well Deans did not impress with the Wallabies and I am VERY sure McKenzie will bring Cooper right back :D

McKensie, imo is a good coach. I think White would also have been a good choice (I do not however think White is such an hero coach as some in SA do), because he brings in great structures and his talent scouting abilities are extremely good.

Yet the ARU are dismissing these claims.

Will wait for the official statement release from the ARU.

I always felt that the Wallabies were underperforming with Dingo - they lost a lot of games under him that were at the time unthinkable - in any case I rate is about time to give McKenzie a chance.

Oh and gambles are part and parcel of the game - look at Mitchell, Plumbtree, Gatland and Jones - one door closes and another (well almost always) another one opens.
