Maybe they'll argue that it is globalised now so it belongs to all cultures. I'd like to see them defend being able to dress up as medieval knights or princesses or druids or any host of other traditionally Western things though. I'm sure they'll find mental gymnastics that allow it.

No they will argue that they were oppressed by Europeans so they are entitled to appropriate whatever they see fit from that culture.
I can't even express how stupid I think this is. I'm guessing a guy with the first name Mohammed may belong to a religion not known for it's friendliness towards queer folk, but I would urge folks not to draw any conclusions along those lines. I'm not saying "cultural appropriation" is just another stick for passive aggressive people to beat other people that they happen not to like; it just happens to look that way I'm sure.
