Hi All,

I know this has been asked before but I did not see a clear cut answer. I am currently being vetted by my company and the requirement is NQF level 5, having done my MCSE 2003 and now studying towards a degree, they require a letter from SAQA saying that MCSE is equivalent to NQF level 5...I would really appreciate some help on this...
Thank you...

From SAQA's website it used to be NQF level 5 but currently undetermined... As you did yours in 2003 and it was NQF level 5 before 2009, wouldn't it still be NQF level 5?

Hi, thanks for your response, much appreciated...The qualification was done in 2010...I am bit confused about this part on SAQA's website, maybe you can explain better :

INTERNATIONAL COMPARABILITY
This qualification and unit standards have been evaluated against, and are comparable to core knowledge and specialised knowledge elements found in the following International Qualifications Frameworks:
New Zealand NQF,
Australian NQF,
British NVQs.

Furthermore, input to the development of this qualification has been compared against international standards and qualifications, specifically those of New Zealand, Australia and Scotland. International and South African support for the proposed conceptual framework and content is evidenced in the following:
CompTIA`s A+ and N+ certification
Microsoft MCSE certification
Existing tertiary programmes at Certificate level
City and Guilds Certificate and Diploma for IT Technicians (refer 7261 IT Scheme administered by ISETT),
NCC Education`s International Certificate and Diploma in Computer Studies for IT Professionals,
The wide and narrow consultative process, and formal research, reflected in the supporting design report that accompanies this qualification submission.

Sorry for the off topic,
But I saw this on a guys email signature this morning lol

“MCSE: Minsweeper consultant & solitaire expert.”

I think the requirement is poorly worded, prior to the re alignment of the NQF levels and expansion to 10 levels would he a Matric + 1.
The confusion comes in where a short course or unit standard will also be allocated an NQF level based on its complexity.
With this in mind I would suggest that the company is looking for someone with a Diploma where as the MCSE would only really qualify and as short course
