Hi there - I'm new to the forums - been lurking for a bit cause I was told that all the clever people come here.
I've been working with SQL for most of my working life but it is has been the typical on the job learning and I now want to get properly qualified and learn the huge amount of stuffz I know I don't know so decided to do my MCSE: Business Intelligence certification. https://www.microsoft.com/learning/en-us/mcse-sql-business-intelligence.aspx
My boss actually said I should do this so I think they might contribute to the cost but I don't want to take that for granted. So cost is still a factor and I don't want to spend money unwisely.
Well I've been googling and googling and am actually varying between being overwhelmed by the amount of options, as well as the lack thereof! Blogs, people opinions on MBB as well as other sites and I'm still no frigging closer to making a decision on how to achieve this.
The links on the MS site seem to point to full time and/or expensive training resources and I can't do that - have to fit it in as I have time - in the evenings and weekends (and into my budget).
I have come to this point though and would really like some advice on this:
1. Microsoft Press Training Kits. I found these books online at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...:aps,k:Microsoft+Press+sql+training+kit+70-46
However I can only find for the 1st 3 legs of the certification (70-461/462/463) - are there ones for 70-466 and 70-467? Can I source these books anywhere locally? Anybody use these books? Other better material for the exams?
2. Online training. I have found this local site: http://www.studyitonline.co.za/course_single.php?id=287
The costs seem fairly decent but again, cause there are so many around, are they reputable? Has anyone used them? And what all do they provide you with?
Aaaaargh I think you need to get a qualification on how to find the correct training for a qualification!!!!
So yeah - if anyone can help I would be incredibly appreciative. And really hope the horrible snarky people leave me alone - you know who you are - the ones that can't resist the - oh you're a noob idiot comments - or the - you're in IT - you should know what to do....... 0_0 It's only funny when you're not the one at the receiving end - heh.
