MDC stages terror attacks - mugabe

If they ever do decide to start, I'd volunteer to help with their training. Free of charge too.

Rouse the rabble against the opposition! Sigh. This is why media control is so important, and why the proposed [-]censorship[/-]Film and Publications Act worries me.

"What will happen?"
"The same thing that happens every time people without guns stand up to people with them."

This is why people need to be wary of disarmament. It alters the balance of power and leaves the people at the mercy of their government. 'Crime control' and 'controlling unrest' are simply excuses. A smokescreen. It's about control, indeed. The same twisted sort of control a rapist wants.

An armed person is a citizen. A disarmed person is a subject.

Much as I dislike guns I have to agree Leitmotif. Disarmament is the first step to dictatorship (and we have passed that rubicon.) :D

Unless the cops would like to be disarmed as well (seems they are a large supplier of guns to the crims, gee, in many instances they are the crims.)

I don't dislike guns, I dislike the people who misuse them...

Anyway. Please note that Gun Control's only response to the opression argument is "it can't happen here". This despite the hundreds of examples, and yet they can never show a single country where gun control has reduced violence.

Oh, wait, there is another response. Accusations of paranoia and distrusting the government. Of course I distrust a government that is trying to render me helpless. It just makes sense.

As applied to the Zim situation, gun control has effectively been used as a tool to ensure that only the government's supporters, it's enforcers, are armed. Them and the criminals. People waiting for Zim to sort itself out are waiting for nothing. What are the civilians going to fight back with? Sticks and stones? The west isn't going to help the civilians out with guns, and the east likes Zim unstable - makes it so much easier to grab, grab, grab.
