Step 1. Let's hope a thorough investigation is done.

Cape Town - SA Police Service crime intelligence unit head Lieutenant General Richard Mdluli is to be "shifted" from his current position immediately, Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said on Wednesday.

Mdluli would be moved to another position as determined by acting national commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, he told the National Assembly during debate on his budget vote.

Mthethwa said he had noted the "recent utterances, public discussions, and at times misrepresentation and misunderstanding" of SAPS processes by some in society, particularly in relation to the crucial crime intelligence division.

Allegations of mismanagement of funds and nepotism were levelled against Mdluli.

The inspector general of intelligence, Faith Radebe, had oversight of crime intelligence's financial management.

Investigation ongoing

"As part of her mandate, she is further able to look into any other issue that may arise in the course of this investigation. And contrary to what the media is saying, this investigation is still in progress. We are not going to be subjected to any public, analysts' or media courts," Mthethwa said.

There had been unfortunate public accusations and counter-accusations within SAPS management. What seemed to have sparked this was a widely-reported letter, which Mdluli was reported to have written to, among others, Mthethwa as police minister.

"This letter seems to have political connotations and has caused tensions within the management of the SAPS.

"It alludes to some conspiracy theory, of some in management ganging up against him. I have instituted a task team, led by the state law adviser to investigate such allegations, because they are so serious as to suggest the meddling of policing functions in politics."

While this probe was underway, he had, in consultation with the acting national commissioner, decided that Mdluli should be shifted from his current position "with effect today" [Wednesday], as the head of crime intelligence and moved to another division, as determined by the Mkhwanazi.

To this end, Mdluli had been informed of the decision and had pledged his support to the process.

"We shall therefore allow and observe this process to be carried through without any undue interference," Mthethwa said.

Why don't they just fire him and avoid the noise? Zuma must really want to appoint another dodgy commissioner, I mean **** this Zuma is truly the worst president we can have for the next 50 years. His education is catching up to him, all the thinks is his personal survival. Screw the country, Zuma comes first.
 
He won't get fired. Just moved from the hot seat, still pulling strings. Don't worry, you'll soon forget about him, but he'll be there, running sh|t.

Hopefully this is the beginning of the clean up of the SAPS.

This guy has tapes on just about every minister and high ranking member of the ANC.
 
This Mdluli dude strikes me as one dangerous guy. Forget Malema, Mdluli is just something else. First time I heard and read about him I had a very bad feeling about him.

Reading up more about him he is very intelligent. He was a top student in his classes during the process of joining SAPS and seems to know how things works in intelligence and the police. Since he knows so much he can easily manipulate those systems and abuse them to benefit himself.

Another thing I noticed about this guy is that it's hard for the general population to hate him because he hasn't really done anything wrong to evoke particular emotions on people. It's easy to hate Malema because he makes people feel a certain way, i.e. anger, uncomfortable, etc. But with Mdluli people will tend to hate Zuma and Mthethwa because they let him do things for them to be in power instead of hating Mdluli himself.

Not only will Mdluli make it almost impossible for the Motlanthe camp to win in Mangaung because of him access to state information but in the near future he will make it difficult for the DA to get the edge during the election processes as he will intercep phone calls and use other state power and intelligence to make the ANC win.

This is bad!
 
You guys know that he can't just intercept people's calls right? Its not like in the movies. You need to apply for an Act 70 which only a certain judge can grant, providing that the reason is good enough. It then goes to telkom, vodacom or mtn. They then approve it and allow the NICOC/OIC access through their firewalls to be able to intercept the calls. If that Act 70 is not approved its impossible to intercept any calls or e-mails.

All you need is a friendly judge. These decisions never get reviewed anyway plus they can always say ooops if it doesn't stand up in court. Mdluli is doing the sort of spying that doesn't need to stand up in court.
 
I understand what you are saying but that's why I said only a certain judge can grant the Act 70 and their is only a handfull of them left in SA. A copy of the request also gets sent to the AG of Intelligence. The tipe of info he has is just who meets with who seeing as he assigns their protection detail. With that info they know who is in who's camp. The crime intelligence is only "suppose" to focus on things like gangsterism, drugs, human trafficing etc. No one in SA has the mandate to spy for political gain, that's why Mo and Gibson left the SSA, they refused to spy for political gain.

There's stories that Mdluli tapped Mbalula's phone which is why Mbalula's name is amongst those rumoured to be trying to oust Zuma in Mangaung. What could be the reason the intelligence (NIA) spied on McCarthy & Ngcuka (amongst others)? The inspector general of intelligence has proved herself toothless over and over. We are still waiting for the outcome of the probe into the Zuma spy tapes.

I know but it is physically impossible to do it otherwise.
