Bought this on Friday. Despite being advertised as having a solar charge connector, it doesn't so now I want to buy a solar charge controller and solar panel to charge it in addition to being able to charge via Eskom.

Can anyone advise if this is even possible and if so, what controller and what size panel to buy? Also if there's anything else required as I want to be able to charge with either Eskom or Solar power. Not just one. Battery is 12v100ah

Yes, it's very possible, you can decide on the size of the panel you want and get the charge controller that matches the panel, preferably an MPPT one for better efficiency.

I would get a 400W panel and a minimum 20A MPPT charge controller. You also need something to isolate the solar so a 2 pole DC Cb and maybe mc4 type fuses.

Seems it was an option add-on? Hate it when they do that
  • Built-in 50A PWM solar charger (Optional add-on)

^ Says it all

As for MPPT:
I can recommend

with any 2 x 8-10A panels eg

Wasn't optional. It's allegedly there!

Thank you. Have no idea what you just said but will go google!! Appreciate the fact that it's possible though as it was otherwise getting sent back.

Thing is the original Lobo inverters have PWM's

but Mecer only imports them without PWM's so yes OEM wise its optional, Mecer... not so much.

In my view its a +, cause PWM's are a waste as they not verry efficient and dump extra as heat.
