Mede8er - WMV files ?

I just recommended a friend buy a Mede8tor and he got a decent special yesterday.

He comes back this morning to tell me it doesn't do WMV files. Thinking back, I think my TViX doesn't play them either. Is it maybe a license issue with Microsoft?

Or can he play via a firmware upgrade?

Its possible! i found alot of issues where issues no more ater I did the f/w upgrade.
 
You should always definitely do the upgrade.

But some users still report problems with playing certain Microsoft Formats. That is a Microsoft consistency problem and not a WMV problem. Search the Mede8er forums for "WMV" and you will see some user reporting issues.

Simplest solution is to get a free conversion software package like Super or some such and re-encode the files to a different format... preferably H264.
 
There was an update a few months ago that had issues with playing WMV files. The next update fixed it.
I play the WMV trailers off the NAG disc every month with no issues.
