Hey everyone :)

So I have about 50 gazillion discs lying around my house with Movies, TV Series, Music, Photo's you name it.
I'm looking for a good cataloging software to record all this so I can find my stuff when I need it.

Anyone got any suggestions?

why not buy a hard drive? after a while those discs aint gonna work anymore... and it's confusing to have so many dvd's!

forget the software and put it all on disk - 1TB Hard drives cost about R1000....maybe a bit more.

I knew someone would suggest that... I don't want to buy a hard drive, I was recommendations on software

Yeh - I bought a 1TB Samsung drive from Sahara for R831 last week.... cheapest way to store :)

I use Advanced Disk Catalog. You basically number your disks, and let ADC scan each of them for you (it scans the whole CD or DVD and stores the filesystem - it can even scan inside compressed files). Then when you need something, you can search through the whole catalog and find which disk number it is on. Fetch the correct disk and you're set.

This sounds more like what I'm looking for. Thanks :)
How this particular software compare to other cataloging tools? Basically, why do you use this one and not something else?

i know you want software, but im just noting this for others that have done the same as you, and are still continuing to do it - ie: spent a lot of money on DVD's and are now sitting with a worthless, dirty, scratched, confusing and unsorted pile of Discs.

DVD: 4GB @ R3 - that's 1.3GB/R
HDD: 1TB @ 1000 - that's 1GB/R

now consider this - a hard drive can be sorted over and over - you can delete stuff and put new stuff on it, and also, you can sell it when you want to upgrade. it's faster to copy to - no need to wait that long for the burning.

it might have been feasible to backup to DVD 2 years ago, but not anymore.
