Can't bloody trust courier companies for anything anymore it seems..

Get home to find the case is dented quite badly on the side, as if they've just thrown it around.
 
Ok wtf...

Now that I start building up my machine, it turns out the the brand new motherboard that I've bought doesn't support ANY of the CPU's on the market...

I get more and more disillusioned with the PC companies in this country every day.... why the fsck are we selling boards this old and marking them as new without at least having SOME kind of disclaimer about the CPU support?
 
Heheheh :D Not only those things... try finding a decent fan which doesn't glow in the dark. :P Cooler Master make a nice fan I've been after, but they only sell the damn LED ones here and the normal is not available. It's a very selective offering of products we get here. Quite often it's the ones which offer the biggest profit margins, leaving the good stuff to be found elsewhere. I'm becoming quite accustomed to ordering my odds-n-ends PC stuff from performance-pc.com.

On the HTPC front, Frontosa just sent out an ad today for the CFI 6719 mini-ITX chassis for around R600-R650. No extra display and controls like the Fusion though.

Which motherboard did you get?

As for couriers, some of them really don't give a damn. I use JKJ Express if I have to. They sort of a middle man, but they get the job done quick and safe. Reboxing where necessary seems part of the deal.
 
I haven't read through this thread at all but from your last post it looks likes you didn't research the components if you ended up with a dud motherboard.
 
feo : I didn't check specifically that the board i ordered supported the E7500.... since it stated it supported Core2Duo... its a Foxconn G9657MA-8KS2H... which after it not posting, and me then going and checking doesn't support the E7500... in fact it doesn't support ANY of the Intel Core2Duo's or Core2Quads currently available.

So yes, I didn't research the components totally in depth, but it did state it supported Core2Duo CPU's...

As for the couriers, I can only imagine they just threw the box around as if it was indestructible...
 
Yeah, no mistake there on your part. If the thing says core2duo then it must support core2duo. Probably will work with a bios update ... which u can't do 'cos it won't post :P

Yes, couriers... they also thought a box full of rare Audi headlamps shipped from Pretoria to Cape Town would be indestructible. Bastards just tossed it into the back of the van with disastrous effects.
 
Nope... no bios update :(...

I've hunted now, the board itself doesn't support the E7500 and the last bios update was over a year ago.,. :(

Well then it's the fault of the manufacturer for advertising compatibility. Or was it just one of those sticker type things that the suppliers stick onto the box. Either way, someone (not you) cocked up and if I was you I'd kick up a sh*t storm until I get my money back or a decent compatible replacement mobo.

As for the courier issue, couriers in SA generally suck compared to their US counterparts but I gotta admit, from the few parcels I've received recently, they're getting better.

Just thought I'd drag this back from the depths of hell that is page whatever :p

Finally got all my kit back with a board that actually works :D

Had to change the case because the damn couriers managed to fsck up the last one in the country so now I have the Antec Remote Fusion Max...

So now I get to spend an evening build another new machine... w00t
