Media Centre Setup Questions

I have this card, does not work well on 64bit with more than 4GB of ram, also a little unstable. With 4GB of ram you need to reduce the ram to use it that's how I have mine working.

I'm getting the USB haupauge HVR900HD to replace it this week, want to see how it performs. But it's mac compatible also so I might set up an OSX media center.

let us know how that goes.. usb is always a great option

Cool. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 150 Media center kit?
Note that I'd like the KIT as it comes with the remote and IR beams.
I can't seem to find anyone is SA selling it for less than R1k.

Any leads?

Hmmmm, so everyone I've tried seems to be out of stock of the kit. Any other ideas of where I could get one?

The kit just makes more sense as the remote and IR blasters pretty much come free as it's a similar price (in most places) to just the standalone card.

I bought the kit and there was something that I couldn't get working (but I think it was the software I was using that didnt have the drivers), so I bought the microsoft remote separately. Which works fine.

So if you don't come right getting the kit, I will happily donate my hauppauge remote with the blasters. ( just need to find it ... :D )

I may just take you up on that, as the probability of "coming right" seems to be diminishing rapidly...

Thanks man.

I would rather get a Microsoft remote, does not need drivers, works out the box on windows and probably better build quality.

Hey

Sorry the masses of posts, but I'm realising more and more that this is a bad time to buy a TV Tuner as all the old, generally accepted cards are being phased out, so they're flippin hard to get hold of.
Had a brainwave earlier, as I've got a mate coming out from the UK in a month, I can get a card off Amazon.co.uk.
Works out a lot cheaper.

I'm looking at the [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-HVR1300MCE-Analogue-hardware-mediacenter/dp/B000DZ838I/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top"]Hauppauge WinTV HVR1300MCE Kit[/ame]

My question is: Would this card work in South Africa. From what I can see it takes an analog input (so I could plug in the normal TV ariel if I ever move somewhere where there's no dish) and composite (good for when I do have a dish). Also comes with remote etc, which is a bonus.
Am I missing any giant pitfalls?

Thanks
G

Works with windows 7 media center, in 64bit mode without an issue, also comes with a remote that looks like the MCE remote but not sure if it works with MCE or just the Wintv app, IR is built into the USB stick.

Down side for me is no linux support yet and on OSX you need to pay for "the tube" to get it to work.

Edit:
Being as software based tuner it does chew the CPU but for a USB tuner and it's size it's decent.
